Argyle & Sutherland Military Officer’s Badger Sporran              of house clearance find.
Of taxidermy badger mask & hide construction, with horsehair swinging six of fierce testicular reference,  on brass thistle decorated suspensions, lined with red felt ( to pick up the colour of the traditional tartan kilt) This example dating to late C19th is in remarkably good condition for age with the leather to the rear requiring some feeding and slight restoration, small rip to belt loop. The stitching has rotted and no longer present in places around the exterior seam but the braddled stitch holes are not torn, making for simpler restoration. Badger hide is evenly faded but sound condition, with leather teeth braiding present. Glass eyes intact.
