Late C19th FRENCH CHESTNUT DRESSER
of solid construction in chestnut with pegged joints and rustic pine backing boards.
Base is 2 drawers over 2 doors – these often having no internal bottom, as seen in this example as modern pine planking and mid height shelf has been added, for practicality.
Top is two beaded glazed doors on pin hinges. The interior with 2 shelves has been whitewashed. Large hook & eye catches have been added, no locks or keys.
Dimensions: base 4ft wide 3ft 2 high & 21 inches deep.
Top is 3ft4 high and slightly narrower than the base. Total height is: 6ft6
Condition: split to lower left door panel (could be re-aligned) a few worm holes to the edges of one drawer box and in a couple of places on the central back support of top and base and to the right side support of the top, all seems historic and is generally not very much worm at all for a French piece of this type. . some scratches and losses to finish/watermarks etc to lacquer in keeping with age.
