Our 1st January auction saw the return of our sealed mystery boxes for charity.
A sealed box and an tin oF ‘tartan’ paint raised a total of £54 and our cash box on the counter tallied £15.62
The Gurkha Welfare Trust is a charity very close to our hearts.
My father was an ambulance driver stationed with the Gurkha in Malaya.
He went out on Windrush and wasn’t carrying much weight my the end of his time there,
He was teamed with a Medical Assistant from the Royal Gurkha Rifles
He lost his partnered medic to a trap wire cutting him in two below the hips,
carrying his alive torso back to the ambulance promising he wouldn’t let him die,
was a promise he sadly could not keep, even though he drive it like he stole it.
One of very few recollections he could stomach to tell me, as much as I wanted to hear them all……..
Thank you for your kind bidding on this lot, to the under bidders & change donators .
The auction lot mystery box winner was really pleased with the contents !
Watch out for our next boxes and even a pallet coming soon!
